Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. Mitchell joined CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional correspondent. She was made chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell was a panelist, as well as presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. She served as a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for journalism excellence, including an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable stories over the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms and The Iran Contra saga. She traveled extensively with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
